Every
school year year we design nine months of interesting activities using a
balanced menu of the five learning domains: Language, Cognitive,
Aethstedic, Social, and Physical. First and foremost, staff gets to
know the children in their groups. Monthly, they get together to
brainstorm bringing what they have learned of what the children know and
want to know about the coming theme. Then, weekly program teams come
together to design all the activities to help provide the most
interesting, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
HSCLC
employs a 4 person staff of professional teachers in Preschool and
Transitional Kindergarten who hold their NC Early Childhood Crudential,
plus either a Certificate, AA or BA in either Early Childhood or Birth -
Kindergarten. The After School and Summer program teachers have earned
their Basic School Age Care Certificate and are in constant pursuit of
further education through workshops and most hold a BA degree in
relevant areas to teaching as well as very interesting hobbies and
talents! HSCLC has a four person Board of Directors that accepts advice
from a 12 person Adivisory Board. Every week each program invites
interesting Community Visitors to come and spend some time with the
children allowing them the chance to get to know their community and the
fascinating people therein.
